I really enjoyed jurying the show this year and thought the quality was very good. I particularly enjoyed seeing the broad variety of painting styles going on in the Santa Barbara  community.

My selections were based on a number of criteria: firstly to be inclusive by selecting a broad range of different approaches and genres; secondly to highlight the best examples in each of those stylistic categories; and thirdly to enhance each of the works by hanging them in groups that enabled their particular sensibilities to shine through.

The Awards were then given for individual paintings that I felt exemplified that artist's particular style, focusing on originality and imagination. I tried to also include works that were technically excellent while still allowing the individual artist's unique personality to show.
